Starting with his
own Chattanooga, David Crocketts life mission
is to create economically and environmentally sustainable
21st century communities.
He believes the time is ripe for
innovative alliances across and among citistate regions. He founded
and heads the Chattanooga Institute for Sustainability, focused
on training government officials, educators and business leaders
to embrace and apply the principles of sustainable communities.
In his business career, Crockett is also the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Advanced Process Designs, a technology company whose software products are designed for digital image/fixed-content archival, storage and management for the largest commercial and government customers.
Crockett spent several years in Chattanooga city government, rising
to be chairman of the City Council. He became a leading advocate for linking social, environmental, economic and equity issues together in a single strategy for Chattanooga to be a national and international leader in building sustainable regions.
Holding civic office, however,
was the second stage of Crockett's career. He previously spent 20 years
as an IBM marketing executive.
Crockett served
on numerous advisory boards including task forces
of the Presidents Council on Sustainable Development
and The National Advisory Council of Environmental
Policy and Technology, The Climate Institute, the President's Economic Roundtable, the Asian Pacific Economic Collaborative, the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology, the “Challenger” Center for Space Education, Heinz Endowments and many others.
Dave Crockett gives speeches around
the world on economic development and sustainability.
And yes he is a descendant of the original
Davy Crockett.
